We Can Shock Bayern – Wayne Rooney

Would Manchester United be able to pull off a huge upset at Allianz Arena as they take on UEFA champions league champions Bayern Munich tonight? Well not many people believe that. But one person that is optimistic they could shock their host is Manchester United’s midfielder Wayne Rooney.

"Everyone has their favourites every year - the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich - but it does not always happen," said Rooney.

"When Chelsea won it they nearly went out of the competition three times. We believe we can go through. We have good enough players."

Chelsea went into the second keg of their quarter final encounter against Paris Saint-Germain trailing 1 – 3 behind the French champions.  But they fought off a stiff opposition from PSG and went ahead to win the game 2 – 0 and thus qualified for the semi finals on away goals rule. Same Chelsea have saw off Barcelona and beat Bayern Munich on penalties in the UEFA Champions League final of 2012. United would be hoping to replicate such feat as they head for the Allianz Arena tonight.

The English man who is just recovering from a bruised toe also said "It will be tough. Bayern and Barcelona are the two best teams left in the competition.

"We are ready. It's an exciting game for us all - the players and the fans - and it's a massive game to be involved in."

Manchester United held visiting Bayern Munich to a 1 -1 draw at Old Trafford a fort night ago. Nemanja Vidic scored the opening goal for United in the 58thminute. Bastian Scweinsteiger equalized for the visitors eight later.  He was later sent off for a second yellow card.

United has an uphill task as they confront Bayern Munich at Allianz arena this evening. As a red myself, I take courage in the fact that Arsenal, our little noisy neighbours Manchester City and Chelsea have won at the Allianz Arena in the last 3 years. United can also do it despite our poor performance so far this season.

Do you believe that Manchester United would be able to shock Bayern Munich?
