Advantage Manchester United As Chelsea Pull Out Of Luke Shaw Chase - Reports

Manchester United look set to win the race ahead of Chelsea for £30 million sought after Southampton left-back, Luke Shaw according to reports in the media.

Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea henchmen are looking for a natural left back to replace aging Ashley Cole who is out of contract in the summer with Cesar Azpilicueta- naturally a right back- keeping the England international on the bench.

The 18-year-old’s excellent performances since breaking into the first team last season has also seen him thrown into the hat for a place in England’s World Cup squad, an achievement which would come at the expense of the experienced Chelsea defender.

The left back, who won his first England cap in February, was chased all through last season by Arsene Wenger, with the Arsenal boss praising the youngster and his club’s youth academy which has also produced Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, both presently with The Gunners.

However, it is believed that the Chelsea hierarchy have baulked at the high transfer value being thrown about with Jose Mourinho reportedly not ready to pay such a high fee for the youngster.

This has cleared the way for Manchester United and their manager, David Moyes, who is a keen admirer of the Southampton academy graduate. Patrice Evra looks set for a summer exit from Old Trafford while Alex Buttner has shown little to convince the club he is ready to fill in the Frenchman’s shoes, therefore the deal would be top of Moyes’ squad’s summer overhaul plans.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has denied reports of a summer transfer for his prized asset but only few clubs and players can turn down Manchester United when they come calling.

Shaw was recently nominated for the Young Player of the Year Award on the back of his scintillating season and a deal early in the summer, before the a world cup in which he has an outside chance of being a part will be good news for Red devils’ fans.
