Ryan Giggs To Take Over From Moyes

After just ten months of been in charge as United’s coach, David Moyes has finally been sacked. His inaugural campaign at United had been a disaster so far. He has been replaced by Ryan Giggs for the rest of the season.

Ryan Giggs, 40, had been a player-coach at United and had been part of Moyes’ backroom staff since last summer. Gigs and Moyes were alleged not to have been seeing eye to eye although the club vehemently denies such rumours. Giggs had combined playing with studying for his Pro-License.

According to the club;s official Twitter page “Ryan Giggs will assume first team responsibility at #mufc until a permanent manager is appointed. The club will like to place on record the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role”. Giggs would be in charge of United’s last four games this season – the home games against Norwich, Sunderland and Hull City as well as the final away match to Southampton.

Moyes drove into the clubs training facility at Carrington for a meeting with chief executive Ed Woodward- his very last. Moyes’ backroom staff – Steve Round, Jimmy Lumsden and Chris Woods are likely to leave with him. Phil Neville may still keep his job though.

Gigs appointment as interim manager has been hailed by his former United’s team mates Dwight Yorke and David May.

“I would have given Ryan Giggs the job last summer because there would have been a continuation there” York told Sky Sports News.

Giggs would be retiring from playing at the end of this season. At this stage, the United board are not keenly considering the Welsh man to take over the club on a permanent basis.

The sacking of Moyes in my opinion, and that of many I believe, was long overdue. Now that we have a chance to start all over again, let’s get this right once and for all. No more imposing an incompetent, underachiever on a big club like ours.
