United Needs A Win Against Newcastle To Boost Their Bayern Munich Return Leg

Manchester United needs a win against New Castle to give them the much needed momentum in their return leg match against Bayern Munich next week. They would therefore be approaching this weekend’s encounter in a combative mode.

The Scot is hoping to build on the momentum of the match against the Magpies on Saturday. He said “We have to go to Newcastle and put on a good performance, get the three points and gain some momentum”.

Moyes has promised to go “toe to toe” with the Bavarian club in the second leg of their quarter final encounter Allianz Arena. But first he needs a win at St James’ Park. They would be going into this encounter riding on the back of a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Last December, the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to New Castle United at Old Trafford and would be looking forward to this weekend’s encounter with revenge on their minds.  United are currently placed seventh on the League table and a win would improve their position.

Moyes have injury worries to deal with. Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Rafael and Alex Buttner all injured and Ryan Giggs and Robin Van Persie all going to be unavailable. Mata and Evra would be making their return to the team after having missed out on Tuesday’s UEFA quarter final match. Newcastle too would be without Krul, Mathieu Debauchy, and Loic Remy.

If only Moyes would be able to coerce the same feat that saw Manchester United holding the reigning UEFA champions to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford from his players, then they would have a very good chance of getting all three points in this weekend’s encounter. We need to head to Allianz Arena next week with a full three points from this encounter.
