Manchester United Preparing Deals For 4 Players - Reports

Moyes is certainly planning for the future of Man United. The Red Devils are preparing new deals for four of their first-team players- David De Gea, Phil Jones, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverly. He is hoping to tie down these young talented United players as part of his plan to develop young players at Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail reports that all four of these players have less than two left in their contracts and would be handed new contracts that would secure their long term future with the club. Team captain Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are set to leave the club at the end of his season. This offers Phil Jones a good opportunity of playing a vital role in United’s squad next season.

According to Moyes, “David Gea is turning into a great goalkeeper with a lot more to come”. David Gea has had a great season with the English champions since joining them from Athletico Madrid in 2011. A number of clubs are already casting glances in his direction and United would want to offer him a new deal that would ward them off.

Danny Welbeck too has had a terrific stay at United till date. Although he has been disappointing in some of the matches, and faced harsh criticisms at the start of the season, David Moyes still considers him as an important member of his squad.

Of the quartet been offered a new deal, Tom Cleverly is the shocking inclusion. Why Moyes is considering keeping Cleverly at Old Trafford for longer is what beats me. Cheverly’s performance has been very inconsistent. We would have fared better in a couple of matches if only Cleverly was simply able to raise his game. Why would Tom Cleverly of all people be given a contract extension? Well I just hope he significantly improves next season to justify the misplaced confidence Moyes is putting on him.
