Top 5 Likely Replacements For David Moyes

It is very obvious that David Moyes’ inaugural campaign as coach of Manchester United has been a very tough one. The former Everton boss took over from Sir Alex Ferguson last summer when United were still basking in the euphoria of their winning the Premier League title.

His style of play, team selection, substitutions, his lack of charisma and the fact that the few players he has signed are yet to make any significant impact are very worrisome. With United firmly rooted in the seventh position on the league table, 10 points away from finishing fourth on the league table and booking a place for the UEFA champions’ league next season, it is clear something needs to be done and fast too.

The job has been quite an overwhelming one for Moyes who had no prior experience of winning trophies or managing a big club. Not surprisingly there had been rumours making the rounds that United’s board may be shopping for a replacement for him even though reports say that they are willing to support Moyes and give him more time. Here is a list of 5 managers that may likely succeed Moyes if United eventually axe him:

Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian who is the current coach of Spanish club Real Madrid is an experienced one. He has won practically everything there is to win including two Champions League titles with AC Milan. He has also managed English side Chelsea where he helped them win the Premier League and a FA cup.

Louis Van Gaal

The 62 year old Dutch man is currently the manager of the Dutch national team. Though there has been reports linking to another English club Tottenham Hotspur, he is also been considered as a good replacement for Moyes. He is vastly experienced, has won several trophies and titles and would make a good coach for United.

Jurgen Klopp

He is the present coach of German side Borussua Dortmund. He led Dortmund to the final of UEFA Champions’ League last season and helped the club to finish second in their league. He has a good eye for spotting young talents and knows how to get the most from his players.

Fabio Capello

The former England manager could be another good replacement for David Moyes. While he may not have done too well with the English national side, he had been a huge success with all the clubs he had managed winning several domestic honours and European honours including five Serie A titles, two La Liga triumphs and a Champions League winner’s medal to boot.

Ryan Giggs

He is currently a player manger with United and is the most decorated player in the team. He knows the team well and would be a huge influence on the players. The only drawback in his consideration is his obvious lack of managerial experience with an English club.
