Manchester United’s hopes of landing their long term transfer target Toni Kroos of Bayern Munich suffered a severe blow when club chairman Karl-HeKarlinz Rummenigge said there is no chance of his leaving the club in the summer.
On his way to Manchester for the first leg of the UEFA Championship quarter final with United, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was quotedas saying “Toni Kroos is sure to play in a Bayern Munich shirt next year as well”.
Kroos whose current contract with the Bavarian club would end in 2015, is yet to sign any contract extension with the club. He was quoted as saying that “It is no secret that the Premier League is a possibility for me. But no one has come to any agreement with me and it will stay like this until the summer and, some time, a decision will be made. It is also no secret that the Premier League is not a bad league. In addition to it, it is also our will that he wears our jersey beyond June 30, 2015.”
United has been on the Kroos chase for some time now. They were hoping to sign him during the January transfer window but the deal did not go through. They have however renewed their intension for the player. With Arjen Robben recently signing a contract extension with the club that would see him remaining at Alliance Arena till 2015, there had been increased focus on Kroos’ future.
If the words of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are anything to go by, then we the fans of Manchester United may just have to kiss goodbye to seeing Kroos in the colours of Man United next season. And the earlier decides where he wants to play next season, the better for all the parties concerned.
