Manchester United would be shopping for top quality central midfielders this coming summer to beef up their floundering midfield. In recent times, the Red Devils have been linked to several big names like Toni Kroos, William Carvalho, Illkay Gundogan to mention but a few.
United’s midfield troubles started following the exit of two of their key midfielders Paul Scholes and Paul Pogba. While the legendary Paul Scholes retired from the club, the highly rated Pogba turned down our contract offers to sign on a free transfer for Italian giants Juventus.
Pogba since joining Juventus, had shone like a million stars. His form for the Old Lady has been very impressive. Same may not be said of most United’s central midfielders. Although one can not blame Sir Alex for letting Pogba escape through the window, seeing his performance for the old lady as Juventus are otherwise known, one is left ruing the missed chances.
But recent reports reveal that Paul Pogba may be open to a return to Old Trafford. Although the news is coming from football news direct website which is definitely not one of the most reliable news outlets there is but in the crazy world of transfers, nothing can be ruled out.
West London club Chelsea too are said to be interested in the French international too. But does Chelsea need a central midfielder more than they need a clinical finisher? And should United be really interested in him and ready to pay the right price, do Chelsea really have a chance especially as Pogba will feel he has unfinished business at Manchester United?
We made a mistake by not doing enough to keep him and with this reports, if true, United should do all they can to re-sign Pogba and correct Ferguson’s mistake. Although the player is said to be worth £30 million, United shouldn’t have a problem paying for his services.
Pogba’s form has dipped slightly in recent times which will help in the negotiation even though a dip in form doesn't necessarily amount to lack of class.
